CIEE Leading Change in Study Abroad - Latin America Student Scholarship

Embrace Latin culture, history, and language on a life-changing, fully-funded CIEE Latin America college study abroad program for fall 2025 or spring 2026*. YOU could be one of 100 exceptional student leaders selected for this competitive CIEE Leading Change in Latin America Student Scholarship.  


 

To Apply:

  1. Fill out the form to receive further application instructions
  2. Submit a qualifying CIEE Latin America college program application (the $50 application fee is waived for the eligible programs below)
  3. Complete the Scholarships & Grants and the CIEE Leading Change in Latin America Student Scholarship sections of the CIEE application

If Selected, You Must: 

  • Be passionate about experiencing Latin American culture
  • Act as an ambassador for your program, sharing your journey on social media 

Scholarship Award Details:

100 students will receive a full scholarship toward a CIEE semester program in Latin America, including program fees and a living stipend of $2,000.

 

The Details

  • Have a submitted application for any qualifying college study abroad program by March 1, 2025 (for a fall 2025 program) or September 15, 2025 (for a spring 2026 program) 
  • Be nominated by your school, who will fill out the nomination form, review applicants, and select final nominations; if selected to be a Latin American Student Ambassador, you'll be notified by CIEE
  • Be an college undergraduate sophomore or junior from an accredited institution at the time of participation 
  • Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident 
  • Preference for Pell-eligible applicants (not required)
  • Have pre-existing public social media accounts

As part of your application, you will be required to create a captivating video that showcases your passion for Latin America and your potential as a student ambassador. This video should be submitted as a link in your MyCIEE application.

We want to see your unique perspective and creative flair! Tell us why you're the ideal candidate for the CIEE Leading Change in Latin America Scholarship.

In your video, please address the following:

  • Your Connection to Latin America: Why are you drawn to Latin American culture and what inspires you about the region?
  • Study Abroad Goals: What do you hope to achieve by studying abroad in Latin America? How will this experience shape your future?
  • Student Ambassador Potential: How would you creatively share your study abroad experience with others? What unique perspective or skills can you bring as a student ambassador?

Be bold, be creative, and let your personality shine! We're looking for videos that are engaging, informative, and visually appealing.

Video Requirements:

  • Maximum length of 3-4 minutes
  • High-quality video and audio
  • Subtitles or closed captions are strongly encouraged

As a Latin America Ambassador, you will be expected to spend 2-4 hours per week creating engaging social media content on your channels as well as CIEE's owned social media accounts (TikToks, Instagram Reels/Posts/Stories, etc.). You will also be expected to be a CIEE Campus Ambassador upon returning home from your program. Details to follow.
