Helga Fasciano

Helga Fasciano is the Executive Director of the Foreign Language Association of North Carolina and a consultant on planning and implementation of global, world language and dual language/immersion education at the national, state, district and school level. She recently retired as the Special Assistant for Global Education at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction where she was responsible for coordinating the implementation of the NC State Board of Education's strategic plan for global education. Previously she served as K-12 Programs Section Chief (Arts Education, ESL, Healthful Living, Student Support Services and World Languages), 2007 – 2013, and World Languages Consultant, 2003-2007. A former teacher of French and German, Helga is involved at the state, national, and international levels in development of curriculum, policy, and standards for teachers and administrators. She is a past Vice-President for the National Council of State Supervisors for Languages.
