Finding connections to the past

At the Writer's Room students learned from Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott, and Robert Louis Stevenson. They found themselves lost in the glorification of these writers in the way their items were kept.

A writing prompt, to write something off of the quotes etched in the cement, had the students inspired to write on themes of staying true to their culture and reclaiming the past. Some found inspiration through disagreeing with a quote and writing on how to make it something they agree with. There were quotes about how to move past death and find power in loss inspiring one student to write about familial issues. 

A simple museum visit turned into a day of learning how to find words of strength.
