Un jour au Petit Palais
This week, our students were able to visit the Petit Palais, near the Champs Elysee. The Petit Palais was actually never a palace. It was constructed for the 1900 World's Fair to house Le Musee des Beaux-Arts de la ville de Paris. The interior of the Palais is magnificent. It is even free. Many famous art pieces reside here: French, Italian and Dutch paintings, plus a variety of sculptures. The Palais has a lovely garden where one can relax and enjoy a cafe.
Everyone was given an assignment to discover a painting or sculpture that they particularly enjoyed. All took photos of the art (and possibly themselves) and later shared with the rest what particularly appealed to them about the art the student had chosen.
It was quite a pleasurable experience.
