We made it!

We arrived in Dublin on Sunday morning after what felt like the shortest night ever. About half of our group met up at Newark Liberty International Airport to begin our journey to Dublin on Saturday and then met the rest of the group once we arrived in Dublin.

Our first day in Ireland was spent unpacking in our accommodations, learning our new neighborhood, and getting to see some of Dublin. By dinner time some students were falling asleep at the dinner table so we all packed it in for an early night.

Monday came bright and early (and I mean bright and early, the sun comes up around 5:00 AM and doesn't set until almost 10:00 PM) and we learned how to navigate the public bus system here in Dublin. Our students will be seasoned public transit users when they leave in three weeks. We took the bus to the Dublin City University All Hallows campus where classes will be held and received an orientation on our program and general information about living in Dublin. We then took a walk around central Dublin to become familiar with the area.

Our afternoon fun featured "Viking Splash". This is a fun tour in a converted WWII amphibious DUKW. We learned about viking and other history in Dublin while wearing viking helmets and roaring at people.

I asked some students to give me some insight to what they are looking forward to or most excited about for our time here.
