Our first day in Europe started off with a bang! Coming from places such as California, Texas, West Virginia, New York and Massachusetts, we all had a safe and smooth arrival at Dublin Airport. This brings us to one of the Irish words in today's title phrase, caint, which means talking or chatter. While waiting for everyone to arrive at the airport, students talked and got to know each other. After taking a shuttle bus to our hostel, The Clink, we dropped our bags off and went to a nearby restaurant called “Brother Hubbard”. This brings us to another word in our daily phrase, bia, which means food. Some of the items on the menu included The Pulled Pork Benedict, The Full Hubbard, and The Frenchie (Tiramisu-style Edition). We then had a walking tour of Dublin, where we passed many of Dublin’s famous attractions, like The Spire, O’Connell Street, and the GPO. We even passed by a small music stage, which is the third word in our phrase, coel. Jetlagged, but still staying in high spirits, we finally ended the day at Gallaghers Boxty House, where many of us had authentic Irish fish and chips. Overall, the day was very fun, which brings us to our last word, craic (fun). A great start to a great program with so many wonderful memories to come!
