An enjoyable day was had by all today.  We had sunny skies and perfect temperature.  Zaanse Schans is a recreated village where you can experience how life was in the 18th/19th century in the Netherlands.  Historic windmills and traditional green wooden houses were relocated to this area.

One can experience how windmills work to grind peanuts for oil, chalk to create paints, and a mill to even cut logs! (a very, very slow process).  We walked along the houses and observed wooden clogs being made, enjoyed delicious hot chocolate.  There was a wonderful smell of chocolate permeating the whole area... Yum!

We consumed Dutch pancakes, pannekoeken, for our lunch. The pancakes are similar to French crepes, just a bit larger.  You can eat pannekoeken any time of the day, breakfast, lunch or dinner!
